Iris Winchester Morningstar is a rare and immensely powerful being. The dual legacies of her lineage are both her blessing and her curse. On one side there is Sam Winchester, a seasoned hunter with a strong moral center, and on the other is Lucifer Morningstar, the fallen archangel and ruler of Hell. She walks a tightrope between two very different worlds, often conflicted between the moral lessons her human father has tried to instill in her and the darker, more hedonistic impulses fuelled by her celestial blood. Iris feels a desperate need to fulfill the expectations of her two fathers who each try in their own way to mold her into their ideal version of who they think she should be.EVENTS
At thirteen her powers began to destabilize. Consumed with guilt after she accidentally injured a group of other kids her age, Sam recruited Castiel to help advise her on the celestial aspects of her nature, however this development drew Lucifer in to pay more interest in her, showing pride in her strength and encouraging her to embrace her darker and more selfish impulses which made an overprotective Sam furious.FIRST HUNT: At fifteen, she accompanied Sam and Blaire on a hunt, hoping to strengthen their bond and learn the family business. While she proves herself capable, the morality of hunting had her questioning who truly got to decide what monsters got to live and what ones got to die given many would class her in the monster category.A MOMENT OF DARKNESS: At fifteen, overwhelmed by doubt and anger, she gave in to the darker side of her nature and used her powers to take vengeance on a hunter who has sought to kill her. The intense satisfaction of her actions terrified her and she spiralled into self-loathing, withdrawing from both Sam and Lucifer. It was Dean's tough love and Castiel's & Blaire's guidance that brought her back from that abyss.PRINCESS OF HELL: Lucifer formally crowned her Princess of Hell on her sixteenth birthday. Other demons are wary of her initially, but her strength quickly catapults her into a position of reluctant rule under Lucifer's guiding hand. Iris spends 666 years governing Hell.RELATIONSHIPS
Sam Winchester: Sam serves as Iris's moral compass and anchor. While he's fiercely protective of her he is also haunted by guilt over her lineage. He fears for her soul and can often try and micromanage her decisions. Iris both loves and admires Sam for his courage and resilience.Lucifer Morningstar: Lucifer can often be a manipulative presence in her life, his affections are often laced with his own ulterior motives. While vaguely paternal, he treats Iris as more of a project or a protege. His ambitions for her to embrace her dominion over hell can often leave her feeling hollow and dehumanized. Despite their clashes she shares a begrudging respect for Lucifer and constantly wrestles with her feelings of wanting his approval.Blaire Remington: Sam's wife and who Iris has called mom through most of her life. Blaire is also a nephilim so is better attuned to Iris and her powers, teaching and nurturing her as they develop. Blaire is extremely maternal towards her and is the one person Iris feels like she can tell absolutely anything too.Dean Winchester: Dean has more of a pragmatic view regarding Iris. He doesn't fully trust her due to his (not so) secret fears of the power inside her. That still doesn't stop him from teaching her the joys of humanity — old rock music, greasy burgers, and sarcasm.Castiel: Castiel is both a teacher and a confidant for Iris. His firsthand knowledge of celestial matters help her navigate her angelic side, and his own experiences with free-will and defying heaven provide her with some perspective. He is the one who encourages Iris to forge her own path rather than live in the shadows of Sam and Lucifer.POWERS
